Spirit of Microsoft Courier lives on in new iPad app

Still sad that you didn"t get a chance to get your hands on Microsoft"s short-lived Courier project? It might not be quite the same, but a new iOS app called Tapose that offers much of the same functionality has received backing from the original Courier team, and it"s live on the App Store now.

Tapose splits the iPad"s screen in half, giving you a broad view over the content you"re looking at. You can use a word processor, take handwritten notes, draw, look at photos, and even run internal apps. Because of its broad feature set and unusual UI, Tapose had a hard time getting Apple"s approval. Tapose features a subscription based cloud storage system, and even lets you pin sticky notes to the pages of your virtual notebook.

If you want to give Tapose a try, it"ll set you back $2.99. It"s probably as close as you"re going to get to a Courier tablet, and it"s sure to be a cult hit if it can pick up some of the ill-fated Courier"s niche fan base. If you"re interested in checking this one out, we"d do it soon, just in case Microsoft decides to pull out the legal hammer. Check out the promo video below:
