Music streaming platform Spotify added a new update to cater to its users exploring needs today. From today onwards, subscribers will be able to find new songs through personalized mixes. These mixes will be created based on the listener"s tastes with old and new songs thrown in.
The new feature is called Spotify Mixes and it is powered by machine learning. It adds uniquely customized lists of songs for the platform"s users, both free-tier and premium-tier ones. The Mixes will be made with a wide assortment of tunes which will be sorted by categories. These custom playlists consist of three categories, artist mix, genre mix and decade mix, based on the user"s preferences.
“There isn’t just one Spotify experience. There are actually more like 345 million different Spotify experiences—one for each listener," said Gustav Söderström, Spotify’s Chief R&D Officer. "Every day, half a trillion events—whether they are searches, listens, likes, or countless other actions—take place on Spotify, powering and guiding our machine learning system. This gives us the ability to drive discovery in a way that audio has never seen before.”
Spotify Mixes is available now and is being pushed out to all Spotify users around the globe. Once the update is received, the Mixes feature can be found under the "Made For You" in the search option.
