Spotify link now appearing in Groove Music app

As Groove Music trudges ever closer to its ultimate demise at the end of this year, Microsoft has been working on making the transition to Spotify easier for users of its music service. While music will no longer be available to stream, purchase, or download from Microsoft"s platform, customers will have up until the end of January 2018 to make the transition to Spotify should they wish to do so.

Now, in another signal of its impending closure, links to Spotify have now appeared in the mobile and PC versions of Groove Music on Windows 10 devices. While Groove Music users should already have been prompted to initiate their migration in an update made available last week, the new link appears to serve as a reminder for those that may have dismissed the original call to action.

For people who simply use the app without a subscription to Microsoft"s music streaming service, clicking the link will take you to the listing for the Spotify app in the Windows Store. Otherwise, the link ends up launching the Spotify application on the device.

The change to Groove Music appears in version 10.17083.18321.0 of the app which can be manually updated by visiting this Windows Store link.
