Spotify is apparently testing a new feature that will allow subscribers to listen to music together and control the content from their own respective devices. Social Listening can be activated in one of two ways, by either clicking a link or scanning a code. Jane Manchun Wong shed light on the feature via Twitter and stated that it is not currently available to the public and is being tested internally by employees.
Wong shared images of the feature in action, which can be seen on the right. The UI will show how many users are connected to the listening session, their profile image, and a code that will allow users to add music. Unfortunately, it is unknown when this feature will become available to the public.
Spotify has made great strides over the past few years, constantly testing and adding new features to its service in order to keep its competition at bay. While former juggernaut Pandora has seen better days, Apple Music has experienced tremendous growth in its first four years, giving Spotify a run for its money.
As of last month, Spotify still retains the top spot amongst music streaming services, having 100 million paying subscribers.
