Spotify began bundling Hulu with its Premium for Students plan last September. Today, the company is adding Showtime to that plan without making any change to its $4.99 price tag.
The new offering consists of Hulu’s Limited Commercial subscription ($7.99/mo by itself) and a Showtime subscription ($10.99/mo by itself) along with the Spotify Premium subscription, all for the price of $4.99/mo.
Spotify also extended the Hulu and Spotify bundle to all its subscribers in April earlier this year, offering both for $12.99/mo, but that bundle doesn’t yet appear to include Showtime. However, speaking with The Verge, Showtime COO Tom Christie said that the company is working on that:
“We’re having those conversations. We have not taken that step yet, but we certainly wouldn’t turn away from an opportunity like that. We’re still having conversations about that next step.”
Showtime’s inclusion will give subscribers access to shows like Homeland, Shameless, Twin Peaks, among many others.
The new bundle is available to subscribe starting today, however only students above 18 and attending a Title IV accredited institution in the U.S. are eligible. Students who will be subscribing for the first time will get a further discount on Spotify, dropping its price to $0.99 for the first three months. Meanwhile, existing subscribers will also gain the option to add Showtime to their account.
