With Verizon and AT&T now taking orders for new Windows Phone 8 devices, and T-Mobile and even US Cellular planning to do the same very soon, you might be wondering if Sprint will ever jump back into the Windows Phone pool again. Now, there"s word that Sprint will do exactly that, but it may still be a while before their first smartphones with Microsoft"s mobile OS are launched.
PCMag.com reports that, according to an official statement from the US"s third biggest wireless carrier, "Sprint and Microsoft are partnering to bring Windows Phone 8 to Sprint"s customers - operating on its 4G LTE network - next year."
Yes, that"s the year 2013, which means that Sprint could launch the unnamed device very soon, in January, or wait until later in the year. However, this is still a change from what a leaked internal document claimed in September, where Sprint said there were " ... no announcements regarding Windows 8 devices at this time."
Sprint did offer the HTC Arrive in March 2011 as part of the first wave of Windows Phone 7 devices. However, the smartphone was not a big seller and Sprint officially ditched the product earlier in 2012.
