It was just over a week ago when Microsoft announced that State of Decay 2 had been played by over a million people within its launch week. The game launched for standard edition owners and Xbox Game Pass subscribers on May 22, while those possessing the Ultimate Edition got to play the game just a few days early on May 18.
That momentum still appears to be moving strong, as today the company announced that the Undead Labs-developed title has already been played by more than two million players. A few other stats were shared as well. So far, two billion zombies have been killed – up from 675 million the last time that stat was shared, and players have completed 121,000 community stories.
Undead Labs also released a massive patch for the game just a couple days ago, bringing improvements and fixes that touch almost every part of the game – something intensely needed as pointed out by our very own Pulasthi Ariyasinghe in his review of the game.
Microsoft is clearly making a big push to get the game in the hands of as many people as possible, going as far as bundling it for free with the purchase of an Xbox One X.
State of Decay 2 can be purchased via the Microsoft Store for the Xbox One family of consoles and Windows 10 PCs for $29.99 and is also available as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription which costs $9.99 per month. Though, if you intend to obtain the game, it might be wise to wait for the upcoming E3 sale.
