Less than a month after the last major Steam sale event, Valve is kicking off another one, this time celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year. The Year of the Tiger is approaching, and to match it discounts are on offer for a vast number of games, DLC, and other items available on Steam, from high-profile entries to indies.
Instead of the usual hub page, the front page is the go-to area for checking out the latest deals, where personalized recommendations from Steam algorithms, as well as featured titles, genre-based categories, and more tools are present for easily browsing through the discounted catalog.
As usual for modern Steam sales, the Steam Points Shop has added new customization items for redeeming themed after the Chinese New Year, including animated profile enhancements, backgrounds, chat emoticons, and more. There is also a free sticker to claim daily. The $5 coupon has not made a comeback after its brief appearance a while back unfortunately.
The Steam Lunar New Year Sale is closing its doors on February 3. Keep an eye out for our Weekend PC Game Deals special on Saturday for a rundown on the best discounts on offer in the promotion.
Valve"s Steam Deck is finally slated to launch next month too, which has finally received a firm release date. This may be a good opportunity for prospective owners to stock up on games they might want to play on the handheld gaming PC.
