It"s the first week of the new year, so it is time for Valve to give us its top 100 best selling PC games for 2017. However, as usual, don"t expect to see any dollar figures or even rankings, just a breakdown by Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories.
There are plenty of familiar faces in the top 12 Platinum games, including the highly popular PlayerUnknown"s Battlegrounds, which hit 30 million players soon after it emerged from Early Access with version 1.0 last month. There were really no surprises in the Platinum group, with maybe the exception of Divinity: Original Sin 2, a kickstarted RPG sequel that appears to be as popular with reviewers and players as the original.
Other Platinum games, several of which are perennial members of this list:
- Dota 2
- Ghost Recon: Wildlands
- Rainbow Six Siege
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Rocket League
- H1Z1
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Counter-Strike
- Warframe
- Ark: Survival Evolved
In the Gold category, Assassin"s Creed Origins and Call of Duty: WWII made the list, which is quite a feat given that the game only came out in late October and early November respectively. Middle-earth: Shadow of War also made a good showing considering its late September release. The other Gold members include:
- Dark Souls III
- Civilization VI
- Stellaris
- The Elder Scrolls Online
- Arma III
- Fallout 4
- Total War: Warhammer
- For Honor
- Nier: Automata

If any of these games are of interest to you, many are still discounted as part of the Steam Winter sale, which will continue through tomorrow.
