Following Apple"s iCloud announcement, MobileMe users were left in the dark about the fate of some of its features. While most of MobileMe"s offerings, such as Find My iPhone, have made the jump, other features like website hosting went without a mention. An email from Steve Jobs, however, appears to confirm that both MobileMe website hosting and the iWeb site building software are now dead.
According to MacRumors, one concerned user decided to email the Apple boss to receive a straight answer. Although the legitimacy of the email is uncertain, the rumours website claims to have examined the mail headers and believes them to be real. The message reads:
Q: Dear Mr. Jobs,
Will I need to find an alternative website builder and someone to host my sites?
I have invested a lot of time and effort and the thought of re-training sucks more than mobileme ever did.
A: Yep.

iWeb was released in 2006 and received criticism for its slow loading times of websites and lack of an HTML editor. The last update was in 2009, and many speculated that it would be cut from the iLife "11 package. Though it was included, iWeb "11 was identical to iWeb "09. Users will now need to seek out an alternative for website building, a few of which have made the jump to Apple"s Mac App Store.
