Stolen gadgets are almost never found even with modern security features, however, a Peruvian man has managed to find his car by simply using the "Find My iPhone" feature on his iPad.
According to the victim, Carlos Molina, a group of young men blocked his car and asked him to give them all his belongings at gunpoint. After parting with his wallet and iPhone, he thought they would leave. However, the culprits decided to steal his car as well. Carlos" MacBook and iPad were in the car"s backseat.
Molina approached the local police who took down his report while his wife explored the "Find My iPhone" feature for possible clues. The stolen iPhone had been powered off by the criminals but she managed to track the iPad which probably did not catch the eye of the robbers.
After the geo-location of the iPad had stabilized, Carlos was able to locate his car in a fairly isolated place out of the police eye. Rest of the gadgets including his work MacBook were not found. The Grand Theft Auto style robberies are on the rise in the country, according to Carlos, and he feels lucky to have been able to find at least some of his belongings after the incident.
This isn"t the first case where "Find My iPhone" has been helpful as we have reported in the past about a similar incident in Australia.
