A few weeks ago, Straw - the polling app developed by a team of Microsoft employees - picked up another update, adding a new Custom Topics feature in beta. That feature allowed users to create their own polling topics, rather than being limited to the predefined list of general themes.
Now, with the latest update, Custom Topics has emerged from beta, and a new feature has been added to the app, allowing users to get notifications when polls are posted on topics that they care about.
The Straw team explained today:
Just open StrawCast, tap the hashtag icon and tap on the notification bell icon on the right rail.
You can choose to receive notifications on as many topics as you want, and you can easily unsubscribe from notifications in the StrawCast Topics pane at any time.
Why does this matter? Because it means you’ll never miss a poll that’s important to you, because they’re delivered instantly and automatically to your notification center.
Since reaching version 2.0 last year, Straw has been updated with various additions, including a web interface, and integrated Bing image search, to add a bit of visual flair to users" polls.
