Straw - the polling app created by a team of Microsoft employees, including Ben Rudolph (better known as @BenThePCGuy) - has picked up a range of new features over the last year or so. After adding custom polling topics in January, an update last month introduced notifications to let you know when a new poll is available on the topics you care about.
Today, Straw has been updated again, and on iOS, it now includes 3D Touch support for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. A hard press on the Straw icon brings up a quick-access menu, offering direct links to creating a new poll, viewing your active polls or the results of your last poll, or to open StrawCast.
The app has also been updated with new features not just on iOS, but also on Android and Windows Phone, including:
- StrawCast now auto-loads more polls when you get to the bottom of the pre-loaded list – no more hitting the “find more polls” button!
- We’ve also added a “notify me” button at the bottom of every StrawCast topic page. When you’ve reached the end of the list (or you’ve voted on every poll in a topic), just tap the button to set Straw to automatically notify you when new polls are posted to that topic. You’ll never miss a poll on a topic that matters to you ever again.
- We also heard you loud and clear that it was kind of a pain to keep track of which StrawCast polls you’ve voted on, so we updated StrawCast to automatically notify you when those polls complete. This makes it a snap to check back in and see how voting turned out.
The updates are available now for those who have already installed Straw, and if you haven"t, you can grab the latest version via the download links below:
