Styles XP The Hard Way ...

Thanks to Meph for his work on this.

While we are all still waiting for Style Builder to come out, meph has gotten low down and dirty under the hood to try and create/modify the Styles themes. Here is what he has come up with. I"ll let him describe in his own words what went into this.

all i did was copy the luna.msstyles file from the luna dir already in windows, to a new dir called luna_2446. then i copied the .theme file from styles xp, opened it in notepad, changed it to look in the new luna folder for the theme file. then i opened resource hacker, opened up the .msstyles file in there, changed a few bitmaps for each of the themes, and did save, and there she was. mind you it took a few tries to get it all working nicely

it"s really not that hard, the hardest part would be changing something in the ini files, cause everytime i tried to i"d corrupt the .msstyles file and have to start all over

it makes luna look like the beta2 version of luna, taskbar and a few buttons wise...works in all 3 color schemes

y"all should just be glad i didn"t keep the start button from 2446, damn that thing was bright neon limey green

i think it gave off more light than my desk lamp that thing was so bright

To install this extract directly to C:WindowsResourcesThemes directory, then you should have a new theme in your desktop properties called Luna_2446

Download: Luna_2446.zip

This is BETA software!, please use caution when installing it on your system

You must have StylesXP installed in order for this to work.
