Rocksteady Studios finally unveiled its next project today, with the developer dropping a cinematic trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League during the DC FanDome event, catch it above. The studio is known for its work in the massively popular Batman: Arkham trilogy, and rumors regarding its next project have been circulating for quite a while.
Unfortunately, the game is not coming out anytime soon, as Rocksteady is aiming for a 2022 launch on next-gen platforms. During the trailer, the supervillain squad (Task Force X) is seen in dawdling in Metropolis as an attack by Brainiac is occurring, but soon, it is activated by Amanda Waller and sent after Superman, who is acting quite villainous.
The third-person shooter will be offering a four-player cooperative experience following the misadventures of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. Playing solo will also be possible, which will let the player jump between characters at any point.
Rocksteady says each member of the squad will arrive with a unique moveset, weaponry, skills, and "enhanced traversal abilities to freely explore the dynamic open-world of Metropolis." It also sounds like the game is set in the studio"s original Arkham universe, continuing that storyline.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is incoming to PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. Earlier today, Warner Bros. Games Montréal unveiled another DC Universe-set game, Gotham Knights.
