Sun's memory more expensive than Kingston's -- by 330%

IT"S A WHILE since we did a comparison between memory provided for servers by tin manufacturers themselves, compared to the price you can get it for if you hunt around a bit.

And so we wended our way over to Kingston"s web site, where you can find price comparisons – not only between Sun memory and Kingston memory, but also between IBM and Compaq.

The differences listed here, in €uros, are more than a little staggering, if Kingston"s figures are correct.

For an IBM eServer xSeries machine, Kingston"s memory costs €2,537, compared to IBM"s own price of €6,077. That"s 140% difference.

Compaq"s price for Proliant Itanic memory is €8,885, compared to Kingston"s €2,537.
