Nintendo"s announcements today covered a variety of genres, and of course, being Nintendo, party games are to be expected. Super Mario Party is the latest entry in the Mario Party series and the first one to hit the Japanese company"s hybrid console.
Super Mario Party features the classic multiplayer mini-games in which participants use various characters from the Mario franchise to compete as they attempt to get through the game"s board before the others. There are over 80 mini-games in the title, making use of the unique characteristics of the Switch in many different ways.
The game allows for a variety of play modes enabled by the hybrid nature of the console. Most interestingly, it appears that multiple systems can be connected in certain mini-games, expanding the play area across the two screens in any position the players decide to arrange them. This linking is done in a game mode called Toad"s Rec Room.
Super Mario Party is scheduled for release on October 5 of this year, and while it doesn"t have a set price yet, Nintendo Switch games typically hover between $50 and $60.
