For those of us old enough to remember the old days of the NES console, your dreams are coming true. Mario is finally coming to mobile gaming with a new iOS game called Super Mario Run, Apple announced today at its iPhone 7 launch event.
As the title implies, the game is a runner, meaning that Mario will automatically run across the screen. But it"s also a Mario game, meaning that you can tap to jump and collect coins, along with everything else that comes with the Super Mario experience.
There"s also a Battle Mode, which keeps score by collecting coins. Unlike the regular game mode, there is no flag at the end.
Moreover, the app will not be free. Nintendo says that it wants to get it to as many people as possible, so you while you"re going to pay a set price for it, you won"t have to worry about continuing to pay, like you would with a "freemium" model.
The game is slated to launch this holiday season, but in the meantime, you can grab the new Super Mario stickers, which will launch alongside iOS 10 next week.
