Whenever a new and exciting product is announced, some of us fear the possibility of not getting our hands on that piece of kit we"ve been waiting months for. This has happened with everything from iPhones to the last NES Classic Edition that was launched from Nintendo last year. Most times with popular items, your best chance to secure one is if you are lucky enough to pre-order the product; if not, your chances seem bleak.
From the ashes of our broken dreams, the market for scalpers have risen and some of these individuals, armed with hefty bank accounts will line-up at stores and buy up all the stock they can, or in some cases wheel out. Then when stock eventually runs out at your favorite store these individuals will list them on eBay and similar websites at exorbitant prices, and so far it"s been pretty successful for some.
"We will remove listings for pre-release items and accessories if the release date of the item is more than 30 days away,"
eBay, in light of the upcoming SNES launch later this year, isn"t having any of it. According to the company, it started removing pre-order pages on its site for the console. Not only that, the firm has started doing so for any product pre-order page that exceeds the new 30-day limit. However, this problem will resurface once we"re within a month of launch.
Amazon recently limited the number of Super NES Classic Edition orders to just one per registered customer in a measure to limit the possibility of scalpers buying up everything. But even with all these in place, pre-order stock still vanish in mere seconds.
The SNES Classic Edition will launch on September 29 in several markets and is available for pre-order.
