Nintendo"s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is still one of the most successful games on the Switch, and the company is intent on supporting the game for a good while longer, after it initially released in December of 2018. Today, a presentation hosted by Masahiro Sakurai, director of the game, revealed the sixth Challenger Pack for the game, featuring Min Min from the fighting game ARMS. The title is one of the more recent IPs from Nintendo, debuting a few months after the Nintendo Switch itself, just over three years ago.
Those interested in the game can watch the full video below, as Sakurai dives deep into all the mechanics related to playing with Min Min. Featuring the extensible arms that set ARMS apart, Min Min is more of a ranged fighter, with close-quarters combat being a shortcoming for the character. Just like in the original game, Min Min can switch between three different weapons, though only on one of her arms, with the other being set to a Dragon. Since ARMS is a fighting game itself, many elements were relatively easy to transition into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Other characters from ARMS are mostly absent, though Spring Man is available as an Assist Trophy, and you"ll get a glimpse of every character during Min Min"s Final Smash. As usual, the Challenger pack also includes a new arena hailing from the same franchise, the Battle Stadium. This stage features launch pads on certain areas of the stage that transform jumps into attacks, and damage-dealing pads above the stage. And, also as usual, there are new music tracks - a coming from ARMS to Super Smash bros. Ultimate. There are a total of 18 tracks in this Challenger Pack, which includes almost the entire soundtrack of ARMS itself.
Min Min is the first of six characters included in the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It will cost $5.99, but you can buy the whole Fighters Pass for $29.99 and get each of the new characters as they"re released over the next few months. Each of the characters will also come with its own stages and music tracks, all of which are included in the Fighters Pass.
Outside of the Challenger Pack, but arriving at the same time, are new sets of costumes for the Mii fighters. These include a costume based on Ninjara, another fighter from ARMS, but perhaps most notable is the inclusion of Vault Boy, a popular character from the Fallout franchise. Each Mii costume will cost $0.80.
Finally, Nintendo revealed that amiibo for the DLC fighters from the first Fighters Pass are on the way. This fall, the amiibo figures for Joker, from Persona 5, and Hero, from the Dragon Quest franchise, will be released. The remainder of the Fighters Pass characters - Banjo-Kazooie, Terry Bogard (from King of Fighters), and Byleth (from Fire Emblem: Three Houses) - have yet to see an announcement, though.
