Super-thin, super-powered, Samsung "flagship" phone leaks; runs Gingerbread

Well, well, well. The leaks just keep on coming. This morning Engadget graced us with leaked photos of the Nexus S. We then posted a story about the surprise showing the phone made on BestBuy.com. Now, this evening, Engadget has one-up themselves by leaking a phone that"s sure to have many scatching their heads and wondering "Nexus what?"

According to the leaked information, the device will be an HSPA+ device with either a 4.3" or 4.5" Super AMOLED 2 screen, 8MP camera with LED flash, full 1080p video recording, and a 1.2GHz processor. This "flagship" phone will run Android"s Gingerbread release and is said to be a "revolution in design." From the leaked pictures, the phone is thinner than anything we"ve ever seen. The device is also said to pack 16GB of internal storage.

According to the photos, this phone is nothing to scoff at. It"s got everything short of a money printer and front facing camera (could be a deal-breaker for some). The device also seems to run an updated version of Samsung"s TouchWiz UI and Google"s C2DM service. The phone is said to launch in early 2011, speculated to be February time. This leak is sure to leave many people wondering whether they should wait till next year to get a new phone. It seems like Samsung is pretty serious about this whole Android, superphone thing. It"ll be interesting to see what they"ve got planned for their 2nd half of the year "flagship" phone.

UPDATE: There are many inconsistencies in these images, and as a result, may end up being fake. You can read a detailed analysis at Android Police. However, it"s important to note that Engadget is usually pretty good about verifying their sources.

UPDATE 2: After looking closer at the images, a clear mistake is seen with the "revolution in design" view. The colors and shapre of the top and bottom half of the phone are inconsistent with the pictures of the front and back of the phone from the other shots. Seems pretty likely that this is a fake.
