Surface 2 with LTE tablets reportedly sent to Microsoft Store locations

The wait for a Surface 2 tablet with LTE wireless support could be coming to an end soon. A new report from WPCentral.com claims via unnamed sources, that the tablet that was first promised in September is now being shipped to Microsoft Store retail locations.

The site says they have received images of the tablet but have been asked by unnamed parties not to post them due to their "sensitive nature". Aside from the fact that the wireless support comes from AT&T, no other information on the Surface 2 LTE model has been revealed, nor has a price tag or release date been mentioned.

A recent FCC filing shows a bare bones drawing of the tablet with its LTE antenna. We can assume that the launch date for the new Surface 2 model is very close if Microsoft Stores are now getting in units to stock up before its launch. It"s possible that Microsoft expects this model to sell very well and wants enough to go around for the first shipment.

This model is for the Surface 2, running on Windows 8.1 RT. Microsoft has made no indication it plans to release an LTE version of the Surface Pro 2, which has proven to be a very popular tablet since its launch in October.
