Surface Book and Pro 4 get driver updates targeting camera and Windows Hello improvements

Microsoft has released a fresh batch of driver updates for its Surface Book and Surface Pro 4, following the arrival of another firmware and driver update rollup earlier this month.

As Windows Central notes, there are eight updates in total:

  • Intel driver update for Intel Imaging Signal Processor 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Rear
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel Control Logic
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Front
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft IR Camera Front
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel AVSTream Camera 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel CSI2 Host Controller

As you may have spotted, all of the updates are related to the cameras on the high-end Windows 10 devices. Microsoft hasn"t yet published details of the new drivers on its Surface Update History pages (SP4 / Book), but it seems reasonable to expect that these updates will bring improvements to image quality and Windows Hello authentication, and probably a few stability enhancements, as is often the case.

Currently, it appears that the updates are only available for those on the Windows Insider Program - including not just the Fast ring, but also the Release Preview ring - but it probably won"t be too much longer before their wider rollout begins.
