Surface Go 3 gets its first firmware update

The Surface Go 3, released in September 2021, has finally received its first new firmware. The April 2022 update is now available for download through Windows Update or the official Surface Support website.

The first update for the Surface Go 3 does not contain notable new features or significant changes, unlike the most recent firmware for the Surface Laptop Studio with the Voice Clarity feature support. Instead, the April 2022 firmware update for the Surface Go 3 brings general stability improvements and security fixes. Microsoft says this release "addresses critical security vulnerability and improves system stability."

Here is a detailed list of new drivers for the Surface Go 3:

Windows Update Name Device Manager Name
Surface Firmware - 9.103.143.0 Surface UEFI - Firmware
Surface Firmware - 11.9.90.3987 Surface ME - Firmware
Intel System - 2120.100.0.1085 Intel Management Engine Interface - System Devices
Surface Firmware - 22.1.4.40 Surface Mobile Broadband Update Device - Firmware
Surface Firmware - 4.26.128.0 Surface EC - Firmware

The April 2022 firmware update is available for all Surface Go 3 models with Windows 10 20H2 or higher (including the newest LTE model for $499). Microsoft says the release contains no known issues, but users should keep in mind that they cannot uninstall firmware updates.

You can download updates for your Surface Go 3 from Windows Update or the official Surface Support website. Microsoft plans to provide active support and new firmware for the Surface Go 3 at least until October 5, 2025.
