Earlier this month, Microsoft announced Voice Clarity for the Surface Laptop Studio alongside other AI-powered capabilities to make online meetings "more human." Voice Clarity uses AI to remove echoes, duplex conversations, and background noises. Besides, Voice Clarity supports high-bandwidth voice capture to make your voice sound "in-person" and less artificial.
It did not take too long for Microsoft to deliver the first of the promised AI improvements for the Surface Studio Laptop. Although we still do not know about the availability of Automatic Framing, Portrait Background Blur, and Eye Contact, Voice Clarity is already here to boost your video conferences.
Voice Clarity is available in the April 2022 firmware update for the Surface Laptop Studio. Here are all the changes in the latest release with a detailed driver list available below:
- Voice Clarity Support.
- Improved Touchpad response and reliability.
- Improved device audio performance and stability.
Note that Voice Clarity is currently available only for the Surface Laptop Studio, but Microsoft has promised to deliver it to more Surface devices in the future.

The April 2022 update is available for all Surface Laptop Studio configurations running Windows 10 20H2 or newer. As usual, keep in mind that Microsoft does not allow rolling back firmware updates on its devices.
