Announced in early October this year, Microsoft"s Surface Pro 7 doesn"t change much from last year"s model. It still looks pretty much the same, built of magnesium and having a display with larger-than-necessary bezels.
There are a few key differences though. For one thing, it finally adds a USB Type-C port, something previously only seen in the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Go. It"s USB 3.1 Gen 1 instead of Thunderbolt 3, but that makes all three ports equal, between Surface Connect, the USB Type-A port, and the USB Type-C port.
It also now includes Intel"s 10th-generation "Ice Lake" processors. The model that Microsoft sent me includes a Core i5-1035G4, which is the sort of mid-tier for the included Iris Plus graphics (note that if you get a Surface Laptop 3 with a Core i5, it"s the Core i5-1035G7, which has better graphics). Iris Plus will make a real difference on a machine like this, so I"m excited to try it out.
