Swarovksi to launch new Android Wear smartwatch in March

Swarovski is a globally-renowned luxury brand, perhaps best known for its line of jewelry, watches, and other accessories. The company is now preparing to launch a new high-end smartwatch, powered by Google"s wearable OS.

The "pre-announcement" came at Qualcomm"s CES keynote, at which the chipmaker formally revealed its new flagship-class Snapdragon 835 system-on-a-chip. The exact details of the new Swarovski device are not yet known, although it will, of course, include a Snapdragon chip.

Indeed, very little was revealed about the Swarovski wearable, but we do know that it will be based on Android Wear. The second major version of Google"s OS was originally slated for launch last year, but in September, the company announced its delay until 2017. Google has confirmed that it will launch two new Android Wear watches this year.

Two models of Swarovski"s smartwatch will be made available, supposedly with separate designs for men and women. Full details of the new device will be announced at the BaselWorld watch and jewelry expo in March.
