As Microsoft continues to release new versions of Skype clients, including one that will be the default messenger for Windows 8.1, it also is trying to add new features that will work across all of its platforms. Today, in a blog post that that mostly covered previous improvements, the Skype team revealed one interesting tidbit about the future.
The Skype blog entry revealed there will be some improvements made to text chatting in Skype. It stated:
We also know that people are engaging more and more with each other and with Skype across multiple devices at home, on the go, and at work so we are working to synchronize chat message status across all of your devices so you will know the current status of all of your chats on every device you use to interact with Skype. This capability will be rolling out across clients over the next few months.
The blog post also goes over what the Skype team has been doing with cloud servers so that users of the Skype client software will have better audio and video connections. The blog hints that the Skype cloud servers will help the team to bring "exciting new features that we will introduce in the coming months."
