T-Mobile begins stable One UI 2 update roll out to Note10 devices in the US

Samsung began rolling out the Android 10-based One UI 2 update to select Note10 devices earlier this month after having patched the beta version with rapid updates. The rollout was in line with the company’s promise of beginning to offer Android 10 updates to select models before the end of 2019. Surprisingly, carrier-locked devices such as that of Verizon in the US too began receiving the updates. Now, the Galaxy Note10 devices on T-Mobile too are beginning to receive the One UI 2 update.

Samsung’s One UI 2 update based on Android 10 is an iterative update that builds on the advances made by its predecessor. The changes include Android 10-specific features such as the gesture navigation, in addition to the improvements to the skin that includes an improved dark mode, updated Camera UI and other enhancements to the UI elements.

Interestingly, the rollout of the update to carrier-locked devices seems to be taking place even before unlocked variants of the phones begin receiving the update in the US. This is a refreshing change for those that have had to wait on software updates for longer when locked to a certain carrier owing to the additional testing.

The One UI 2 update package for the Note10 and Note10+ should be around 2GB. However, if your device hasn’t received the update yet, you can head to Setting > Software update > Download and install to manually initiate the download. Since the rollout is just beginning to take place, it may be a while before all T-Mobile locked smartphones see the update.

As for the updates to other Galaxy flagship models in the US and otherwise, it may not be long before those devices begin receiving the Android 10-based software since the company has already begun releasing it to some markets.
