In July, LG announced that is Velvet was coming to the United States on all major carriers, except it promised the T-Mobile model for later in the summer. It"s here now, and what"s interesting is that this is actually a different phone than what everyone else is offering.
Rather than using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G like we"re seeing in the unlocked, Verizon, and AT&T models, the T-Mobile SKU actually has a MediaTek processor, the Dimensity 800. It"s the first Media-Tek-powered 5G phone to be launched in the United States, supporting T-Mobile"s 600MHz low-band frequency and the 2.5GHz mid-band frequency that it got from Sprint.
T-Mobile is also boasting that it has the lowest price for an LG Velvet at $588, and it comes in Aurora Gray and Pink White. The rest of the specs are the same, with 128GB of internal storage, 6GB RAM, and a triple-lens camera system with a 48MP main sensor. It also includes the raindrop camera design that LG boasted in the Velvet, where it tried to think outside the box in terms of design.
If you want to check out the LG Velvet on T-Mobile, you can find it here. It will be released on September 10, but you can read our review between now and then.
Update: While T-Mobile"s website says that the handset includes a MediaTek Dimensity 800, T-Mobile has confirmed to us that it actually has a Dimensity 1000C, a new chipset that was announced today.
