Today, Verizon started rolling out its Android Oreo update for the LG V20, which means that it will join AT&T and Sprint as major wireless carriers in the United States that have provided the update for the phone. This now puts T-Mobile in the situation of being the sole major U.S. carrier that has left its customers hanging.
Although T-Mobile has made commitments to update several LG handsets in the past, it looks like the V20 is one the last ones remaining. Perhaps what makes the lack of updates for the V20 so comical is that it was the first phone to launch with Android 7.0 Nougat. Despite having a great start, it has taken quite a while for the V20 to receive the Android Oreo update, which is still a slap in the face for owners, seeing as how Google has already deployed Android 9.0 Pie.
If you"ve been around Android for even a short time, this problem is nothing new. The issue has persisted for years and does not discriminate whether it be due to device manufacturers or wireless carriers. Hopefully, things will change in the near future, making embarrassing delays like the one above a thing of the past.
