Android 7.0 Nougat has now been available for over three months, but so far, it"s made its way to just 0.3% of devices. Meanwhile, Google is already preparing to roll out the latest version of the OS, Android 7.1.1.
Many manufacturers - such as Samsung and Honor - have only started testing their Android 7.0 upgrades in the last few weeks. But others, including HTC, Motorola and LG are already delivering the final update to some of their handsets.
LG began upgrading its G5 flagship to Nougat in its home market of South Korea earlier this month, but last week, the update also launched for that device on Sprint in the United States. Now, The Android Soul reports that T-Mobile will shortly begin its Android 7.0 Nougat rollout for the G5 too, bringing the device up to software version H83020a, and the build number up to NRD90U.
The update weighs in at over 1.2GB, and includes the Android security patches for November. Currently, T-Mobile still states that the update is in testing.
While Google will make the newer Android 7.1.1 update available for some of its Nexus and Pixel devices from next week, it may take a while longer for that version to make its way to other devices like the G5. LG has a pretty good reputation when it comes to updating its devices quickly, though - the G3 was the very first handset to be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop; and the G4 was the first non-Nexus device to get version 6.0 Marshmallow.
