Just over a month after T-Mobile made Nougat available for the Samsung Galaxy Note5 and then a week and a half later for the S6 edge+, two new updates are now being rolled out over-the-air (OTA) by the Un-carrier for those smartphones. Both updates address an issue where users may experience call failure.
Both updates are available for everyone right now. The changelog is the same for either of the two smartphones: “Intermittent call failure fix, Android 7.0 Nougat for users still on DQC2.”
However, the software build number is different, so if you are still rocking the T-Mobile Galaxy Note5, then you should be looking for firmware version N920TUVU4EQE1, whereas Galaxy S6 edge+ users will receive the update with build number G928TUVU4EQE1 which includes the May security update; as a reminder, firmware version G928TUVU4EQC6 was rolled out on May 2 with the March security update.
Aside from the call failure fix, the update will also upgrade these two Galaxy smartphones to Nougat for users who are still on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). In that case, you"ll be needing a larger amount of free storage - roughly 1.4GB - on your phone to complete the update.
Since this update is being delivered OTA, you might want to check for it by heading to Settings > About Device > System updates, or if you are already on Nougat, head to Settings > Software update.
