For the second straight year, T-Mobile has been ranked #1 in customer satisfaction by J.D. Power and Associates. The crown is for the company"s overall retail experience--not coverage. However, with recent upgrade news, it seems that T-Mobile is serious about taking the network quality crown too.
According to leaked photos at TmoNews, March 14th will be a big day for the little magenta company. Beginning in about a week, T-Mobile will be updating their outdated coverage map with more detail, and some new colors (6 levels of voice coverage, and 5 of data). Part of the map upgrade will add HSPA+ coverage, which will be referred to as "Very Fast Mobile Web." T-Mobile has made it a point to avoid the 4G branding for this new rollout, but explains the new technology as "home broadband like speeds on the go."
Android and Me says that this is part of the HSPA+ rollout, which has a max speed of 21 Mbps. The upgrade is set to go live in four or five markets next week. The only compatible device available at launch will be the webConnect Rocket (wireless broadband card). No pricing information has been made available. Initial launches will take place in the following markets:
- Dallas, TX
- Miami, FL
- Los Angeles, CA
- Chicago, IL
- Philadelphia, PA (possible, but not for sure)
