The popular space flight simulation game Kerbal Space Program has been acquired by Take-Two Interactive, the behemoth parent company of Rockstar Games and 2K Games.
The news arrived via a blog post by the game"s developer Squad, saying the change will not affect community and the development team is still working on upcoming updates, adding "now we are fortunate enough to do so with the help of an experienced publisher like Take-Two, and we couldn’t be more excited and happy to see where our conjoint collaboration will take KSP forward."
The previously announced Making History expansion for the game is reportedly still the primary focus of the developer. Moreover, the game"s console versions are set to receive a free update sometime later with the help of Blitsworks, a studio specialized in porting games.
The blog post concluded the statement saying the studio is excited to work with the new publisher, going on to say that "The team at Take-Two are big fans of KSP, who have been persistently knocking on our door trying to work with us for a long time. They share your passion for the game and we’re really eager to see what Squad and Take-Two can do together for Kerbal Space Program moving forward!"
Just a week ago, it was revealed that Valve had taken aboard some former staff members of Squad who had left the studio months back, with the company promising more details as to their project at a later date. Maybe this new development for Kerbal Space Program could mean a sequel is in order.
