Today at CES 2021, TCL announced that it is adding Google TV to its series of smart TVs slated for launch this year. The upcoming TCL Google TVs will offer personalized library of content including movies, shows, and live TV from various apps and subscriptions to consumers.
TCL says Google TV will be incorporated into its new display technologies such as mini-LED, 8K, and QLED. Today"s announcement coincides with the unveiling of the company"s refreshed 6-series TVs featuring 8K resolution as well as the 85-inch XL Collection. It has also introduced improvements for its mini-LED tech with OD Zero mini-LED that reduces the distance between the backlight layer and the LCD layer to 0mm.
With the addition of Google TV to TCL displays, consumers will be able to discover and watch content in high definition on the firm"s latest lineup of TVs. Kevin Wang, CEO of TCL Industrial Holdings and TCL Electronics, said in a statement:
“The introduction of TCL Google TVs will take our partnership with Google to the next level. Our theme at CES this year is ‘Experience More’ and by combining cutting-edge displays with smart and convenient content powered by Google, I am confident we will allow people around the world to do just that in 2021.”
In addition to the Google TV rollout, TCL"s displays will allow users to search for content and manage their smart home devices using Google Assistant. The rollout of TCL"s Google TV series will begin in the U.S. and later in other territories.
