The popular messenger app, Telegram, launched with a new feature called Instant View several versions ago but it only worked with a handful of websites, all run by Telegram. Instant Views display content of a website similar to reader mode in Firefox and Safari but with the advantage that they load instantly and support images, videos and other media. They even work well if the content wasn’t optimised for mobile.
In order to rollout Instant View to more websites, Telegram launched a contest in May to incentivise the creation of templates, making more sites compatible with Instant View. As of today, 2,274 websites now work with Instant View thanks to those who took part in the competition.
The users Pavel T. and Chuchu shared first place in the competition, both creating 40 templates each. The first prize of $10,000 will be split between them both, meaning each will receive $5,000 in addition to the rewards for their templates.
Going forward, Telegram will extend and upgrade the Instant View Platform based on its experiences learned so far. A new competition will be launched in the coming months with more money up for grabs. In order to keep a tab on when the next contest will be announced, it’s best to subscribe to the @IVcontest.
