The Android 11 beta is now available for Google's new Pixel 4a

Google launched its second-ever mid-range handset this month, and while it keeps up with the flagship Pixels in many areas, the Pixel 4a wasn"t eligible for the Android 11 beta at launch. This isn"t uncommon for new Pixel devices; sometimes it takes a week or two to get the new images ready. But now, you can enroll your Pixel 4a in the Android 11 Beta Program.

Moreover, there are developer preview images available. That means that if you don"t like the simplicity of opting in through the Android Beta Program portal, you can manually flash the update to your device.

Android 11 has a bunch of new features, which Google has said focuses on people, controls, and privacy. There"s a new Bubbles API that can be used by chat apps to keep conversations in view, and now conversations notifications get their own spot in the notification shade. You can now access smart home controls by holding the power button too. Of course, those are just a few of the upcoming features.

And if you"ve got a Pixel 4a, you can start testing them out today by enrolling your device here. Keep in mind that if you decide that the beta isn"t for you and you want to roll back, you"ll lose all of your data.
