Announced at this year"s Mobile World Congress, the ASUS ZenWatch was rumored as an Android Wear smartwatch that would annihilate its competition in terms of pricing. But, upon its official arrival, we were presented with an Android Wear device that was priced in line with offerings from other companies. Fast forward several months later and the ASUS ZenWatch is now officially available from the Google Play Store.
Although the break out sensation of the Android Wear bunch has been the Motorola Moto 360, the ZenWatch is no slouch in terms of design featuring a slightly curved display, sandwiched stainless steel design, and attractive leather band with snapping clasp. The ASUS smartwatch will also offer customized features and watch faces that will be only available on the ZenWatch.
The ZenWatch offers a 1.63" AMOLED (320x320) display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, a 9 axis and bio sensor, and is water resistant rated at IP55. The ZenWatch is now available with a tan leather band on the Google Play Store and will retail for $199.99 USD in the United States. Availability in other countries has not been confirmed.
