It was no surprise that Ubisoft was going to unveil Tom Clancy"s The Division 2 at E3, and the company delivered at Microsoft"s conference with two brand new trailers showcasing new environments, weapons, and features. Players will be leaving behind the ruined New York City from the original title and will be moving on to Washington D.C., which has also been hit just as hard by the smallpox virus.
The sequel takes place 6 months after the outbreak and it is a very different environment to what fans will be used to in the original, as the snow-covered urban areas are no more. There are still plenty of gangs to eliminate, however, as well as new weaponry such as a Chem Launcher, a crossbow, and even what looks to be a deployable that fires a cluster of mini-missiles at enemies inside its range.
A beta for the game is also planned, with registrations open now. Sadly, we didn"t get a date on when will the beta kick off. Perhaps we will get more details during Ubisoft"s own E3 presentation tomorrow.
The Massive Entertainment-developed Tom Clancy"s The Division 2 is slated to arrive on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on March 15, 2019. It will be interesting to see how the game will measure up against Bioware"s Anthem, which releases around the same timeframe.
Microsoft also announced today that the original Division is available as part of Microsoft"s Xbox Game Pass subscription program starting today.
