It may be that Telltale"s first new game launch after coming back from the dead will be based on The Expanse. Announced during The Game Awards 2021 show, The Expanse: A Telltale Series is incoming as a joint project between Telltale and Deck Nine, the studio behind Life Is Strange: True Colors. Catch the teaser trailer here (age restricted).
The title will present a prequel story to The Expanse show on Amazon TV, which itself is an adaptation of the hit science-fiction book series. Fan favorite character Camina Drummer will be the main protagonist in the story involving a mutiny on the ship Artemis.
“The game is going to put you in Drummer’s mag boots, and force you to make all of the ridiculously difficult decisions that, as you know, Drummer grapples with,” says Cara Gee, the actress portraying the character in the TV show and now, the game.
Here"s a short description of the setting given by the developer:
In the near future on the outskirts of the asteroid belt, a bloody mutiny breaks loose on the Artemis. You take the role of XO Camina Drummer, where your choices determine the fate of the ship. What will you do with the truth, Bosmang?
“Working with a fantastic IP like The Expanse is both daunting and thrilling,” added Deck Nine COO Jeff Litchford. “We wanted to pick a character and story that hadn’t already been told – one that players could really influence but that also stayed true to the books and series for the fans. The collaboration with Telltale has enabled us to bounce around ideas and approach things from the different perspectives each company brings to the adventure genre as we work to tell the best story possible.”
The Expanse: A Telltale Series is still early in development and is heading to PC and modern consoles. Telltale is also working on The Wolf Among Us 2, but no news of the title has surfaced in some time.
