When Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform a couple of months ago, it said that Mobvoi was going to be one of the first partners to produce a smartwatch with the new chipset. As spotted by 9to5Google, that smartwatch may arrive on September 24 as the TicWatch 3 Pro.
A now-deleted tweet said, "Get ready, the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS is launching on 9/24 with SPo2 tracking!" There"s also an Amazon UK listing that"s been substantially modified. It now shows a product simply called TicWatch, costs £399.99, and comes out on November 30. According to the report, that originally showed the TicWatch 3 Pro, so perhaps it was edited with some placeholder information.
The original listing showed a price of £299.99, and a size of 45.1x45.1x12.6mm. That"s about all we know, aside from the use of the Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform.
But the new chipset is enough to be excited about. The Snapdragon Wear 4100 represents the first fundamental improvement in the architecture of Wear OS processors. Ever since the first Android Wear devices in 2014, the CPUs have been based on ARM Cortex-A7. With the Snapdragon Wear 4100, it"s Cortex-A53. It"s going to be fun to see these new watches hit the market, so hopefully we"ll hear more on September 24.
