The General Mobile GM6 is the latest Android One handset

Google and General Mobile today announced the GM6, which is the next Android One phone. If you"re not familiar with Android One, the program is meant to bring low-cost devices to emerging markets, but the handsets will always get the latest Android updates, similar in the way that Nexus phones do.

In fact, some Android One handsets are even eligible for the Android Beta Program, such as the General Mobile 4G. It"s still unknown if the GM6 will though. Here are the specs (via Android Police):

SoC MediaTek MT6737T
RAM 3GB
Storage 32GB
Display 5-inch, 720p, 294ppi, LCD
Battery 3,000mAh
Camera 13MP, 8MP front with flash
OS Android 7.0 Nougat
Measurements 144x71.3x8.6mm, 150g

As you can see, the specs are decent. The usage of Android 7.0 seems a bit odd for a device that"s meant to get the latest updates, since the newest version of the OS is 7.1.1.

Pricing hasn"t been announced yet, nor is there a specific release date. Google"s Android One page lists the General Mobile GM6 as being sold in Turkey, but it"s always possible that it may expand to other markets.
