Huawei has seen a surprising amount of success with its more budget oriented sub-brand in the form of Honor. While Huawei seeks to wow customers with its top-of-the-line PX and Mate X series, the Honor line tries to bring many of the same features found on those more expensive models to a more wallet-friendly price range.
The latest addition to Honor"s midrange lineup is the 8X, featuring a 6.5-inch display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080p. The phone is also almost entirely bezel-less with a screen-to-body ratio of 91%, and Huawei was quick to point out that this was better than the far more expensive Samsung Galaxy S9.
Round back, the phone is made of 2.5D glass for a little more durability. Underneath is a gradient finish in black, blue or red with what Huawei is calling a "grating effect" that"s a little similar in design to what you"d find on the Honor Play Player Edition, except more... shiny. The phone will also have a slightly different reflection based on the angle you"re looking from.
There is a dual camera setup (20MP + 2MP) and a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. It"s powered by a Kirin 710, a 3,750mAh battery and 4 or 6 GB of RAM, with up to 128GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, Huawei didn"t provide any details about the phone"s pricing in the US, and will likely do so as we get closer to the phone"s official launch in the beginning of October.
