Ever since the device was announced at Mobile World Congress in February, the HP Elite x3 has been somewhat of a mystery. We knew the basic specs and that it"s coming this summer, but that"s about it.
Since then, HP has released documentation for the Windows 10 Mobile phone. From that, we learned that the fingerprint scanner on the device wouldn"t work until the fall, as well as the LTE bands, which seems to show that it likely won"t work on Verizon, among other things.
HP has given no indication of pricing or specific availability to date. The Italian site Plaffo says that the company confirmed at an event in Milan that the device will cost €699, and it will be available in September.
At today"s conversion rates, €699 would translate to $772.53, or £596.47. Of course, even if the device launches at €699 in Europe, that doesn"t mean that the US and UK prices will be a direct conversion.
Of course, until HP officially confirms pricing and availability, this is just a rumor and it should be treated as such. We know that Dona Sarkar has one, and Microsoft just gave one away.
Clearly, HP is gearing up for a launch at some point in the near future.
