Two upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusives have been pushed back without any hints at new release dates. Sony announced today that The Last of Us Part II and Marvel"s Iron Man VR, which were originally arriving on May 29 and May 15, respectively, will no longer meet their planned launch dates.
"SIE has made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel"s Iron Man VR until further notice," said the official PlayStation Twitter account. "Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve."
In a separate announcement, the developer Naughty Dog said that the game"s development is almost finished, and it is currently "in the midst of fixing our final bugs." Mirroring the Sony announcement, the studio said the delay is "due to logistics beyond our control," and that it wants to ensure that everyone can experience its new game around the same time.
"We were bummed about this decision but ultimately understood it’s what’s best and fair to all of our players," Naughty Dog added. "We’re hoping that this won’t be a long delay and we’ll update you as soon as we have new information to share."
Over on the Xbox side, two Microsoft-owned studios also delayed their games just a couple of days ago, also due to logistics issues that have popped up due to the current situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
