The latest Kindle Paperwhite is up to $50 off on Amazon

If you"ve been looking for a reason to upgrade your current e-reader, Amazon"s latest sale on Kindle devices may be good news for you. The company is running discounts on both the base Kindle and the Kindle Paperwhite.

For the base Kindle, which was released almost a year ago, the price is $30 down, bringing it to $59.99. The latest refresh introduced front light, which helps users see the screen in the dark without needing an external light source. It comes in two colors and includes three months of Kindle Unlimited, giving you access to all of the books on Amazon"s library.

The Kindle Paperwhite, on the other hand, is getting $45 off for the 8GB model, which is now $84.99 instead of $129.99, and $50 off the 32GB model, making it $109.99 instead of $159.99. The Paperwhite was last refreshed in 2018, and it might be due for another refresh soon, but the current model already has some niceties, including the fact that it"s waterproof and a 300ppi screen that should be pretty sharp for your reading needs. It also includes Kindle Unlimited for three months.

The downside to these prices is that you"ll need to have Amazon"s Special Offers - in other words, ads - on your lock screen. You can still get discounts on the variants without Special Offers, but they will be $20 more. If you need help choosing your preferred model, Brad Wardell compared all of the current models in the summer of last year.
