Today, Motorola announced the One Hyper, the fifth entry to the Motorola One series of smartphones. It comes with the tagline, "Life in high-res", and it comes in gradient colors like Deep Sea Blue and Dark Amber.
One of the key features is that it has narrow bezels and no notch, for an 85% screen-to-body ratio. The 6.5-inch screen comes in at FHD+ resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Of course, the lack of a notch means that there"s a pop-up selfie camera, which comes in at 32 megapixels.
The selfie camera is meant to automatically close if you drop the phone. It takes less than a second to open or close it, so as you can see from the image above, it doesn"t always close before it hits the ground. It made it there by the second bounce though.
The rear camera comes with two lenses, one of which has a 64-megapixel resolution. This comes with laser autofocus, and it uses quad pixel technology for better low-light performance, something that you can also combine with night mode. This works on the front camera as well.
The second lens is an eight-megapixel ultrawide lens with a 118-degree field of view.
The Motorola One Hyper includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset, along with 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage. The 4,000mAh battery supports up to 45W charging, although there"s an 18W charger that comes in the box. This does mean that you can use a laptop charger for super-fast charging though.
This handset is available today, only unlocked from Motorola.com. It costs $399, and it"s available in Deep Sea Blue with Dark Amber coming later. There"s also a Fresh Orchid color, but that"s not coming to the United States.
