The new Asus Zenfone 2 is powered by Intel, has 4 GB of RAM and costs just $273

ASUS is a company you probably know for laptops, monitors, tablets or even routers. One part of their portfolio, which doesn"t get much attention outside of Asia is their smartphone line-up which has had its share of ups and downs, but their latest smartphone -- the Zenfone 2 -- is definitely worth paying attention to.

There are three variations of the Zenfone 2, starting from the cheapest $209 entry model through to the highest end model at $322. All of the phones share almost all of the same features, including:

  • 5.5-inch 1080p display
  • 13 MP F2.0 rear camera
  • 5 MP front-facing camera
  • Android Lollipop
  • LTE, Micro-SD expandable, BT 4.0, etc.

But the differences start showing up when looking at the core components of the phone"s internals. The $209 entry model has an Intel Atom Z3560 clocked at 1.8 Ghz with 16 GB of internal storage and 2 GB of RAM. The mid-range model costs $273, has the same processor but has 32 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM.Meanwhilethe range-topping model, which costs $322, has an Intel Atom Z3580 clocked at 2.3 Ghz, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

If you"re familiar with the smartphone it"s probably because it launched in Taiwan earlier this month and was showcased at CES earlier this year, but it just launched in China this week, meaning you should be expecting to see it in the hands of resellers very soon.
