One of Microsoft"s biggest announcement during this year"s Build event was Windows Terminal, a new tool to supersede the standalone Command Line, PowerShell, and WSL tools. At the time, the company didn"t really reveal an official icon for the app, but now we have one.
Microsoft"s Kayla Cinnamon posted on Twitter today, revealing a new icon for the app that retains the general feel of previous command line tools, but also adopts the company"s new design philosophy that"s been slowly making its way to more of its product icons.
Microsoft has had something of a consistency problem with its icons, but progress is apparently being made. The new Office icons revealed last year have been making their way to more platforms, and apps like Your Phone have also adopted a similar style. Recently, Office Insiders got a new Fluent Design icon for Publisher, following Access last month.
Since Windows Terminal is still only available for those willing to compile it from the GitHub repository, the new icon won"t show up for you automatically just yet. Microsoft plans to make a preview version of the app available in the Microsoft Store later this summer, so we"re likely to see the icon be a little more prominent by then.
